So I won a history award and was invited to go to a luncheon at the Delta hotel in kitchener to receive the award. You were allowed to invite guests but unfortunately my parents were in Ireland for their 25th wedding anniversary so I brought the next best thing…Jane Honek (I love you Jane!). This was my first time driving in downtown Kitchener, on top of that there was construction and I couldn’t find the hotel. It was scary, but on the up side I only almost killed one person and he was on a bike so it didn’t really count. Any way we finally reached the hotel with high blood pressure and went up the first flight of stairs that we found. Down the hall there were a bunch of people but we weren’t really sure of where we were supposed to be, so Jane and I went downstairs to find reception but apparently you need to go around to the front of the building to get to the main lobby. After walking around to the front of the building Jane and I asked the lady where the Confederation Club luncheon was…it was in the room we had just left. When we got back upstairs we received our name tags and where informed that Jane and I would not be sitting at the same table. After seeing the look on both of our faces the lady pulled some strings and was able to put us both at the recipients table. We sat down with the other students where the most awkward hour and a half ensued. When the meal came Jane and I were thrilled to see that our beef had been freshly killed and was still bleeding all over the plate. The day continued to get better as Jane had chunks of fat stuck in her teeth and I embarrassed myself by sitting down before they had finished their little blurb about me. Then Jane and I felt disgusting from eating the raw meat. It was a wonderful day at the Confederation Club.
